The Great Banquet

September 08, 2019 | Kris Vos

Jesus tells the story of a man who prepares a lavish banquet. He pulls out all the stops and sends out all the invites to his friends and family. One by one the responses come back, each one has an excuse and no one wants to come to the party. The host decides to invite the uninvited. He sends out invitations to the poor, the outcasts, the down-and-out. He goes to the highways and byways to bring in anyone who will come to the party. The food and entertainment will not go to waste. The party is on again! What a celebration! Unlike the originally invited, the new guests are overwhelmed with gratitude to be at the party. They celebrate like there is no tomorrow. Jesus makes it clear that those in the greatest need have no hesitation in responding to His invitation. There is a direct correlation between the amount of need in one's life and the excitement for God's invitation. The banquet is prepared, are you excited to go? Do you know some folks who would be delighted to go?
