Lions

The story of Daniel in the lion's den is a fantastic story. We will revisit the story with fresh eyes. We will also take a step back and see the bigger picture of God's plan for His people. It is often a temptation with the great stories of the Bible that we want to take the story out of its context. We want to tell the story of God's miraculous deliverance and say, "See what God did? Be like Daniel and God will do amazing things in your life too!" There is some truth and value in that approach but it really takes the meat out of the story. It takes a complex and holistic understanding of God's activity in the world and reduces it, shrinks it to a morality story. We will do our best to avoid this common mistake.

Series Information

In this new series called: Daniel: Unbreakable/Unshakable, we will discover that there is more at stake than just the shaping of young minds. God is positioning Daniel and his friends to accomplish His purposes even while they are in captivity. It seems unusual that God would choose to keep using His people in exile. He often uses His people most powerfully when they are most powerless. All God's plans for Daniel hinge on Daniel's ability to resist the forces that would shut him off from God. You're going to like this story!
